As you may know, Sugar Lab Bake Shop is expanding and moving to a larger location in Ventura. We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable people. We operate in a fun and professional environment. If you want your days to fly by and your work to be rewarding, then this is the place for you! We have three positions available. The ideal candidate for all three is punctual, professional, friendly, detail oriented, and able to multitask. We value teamwork, taking initiative, honesty, and thoughtfulness. All team members must be able and willing to work days, evenings, Saturdays and many holidays. Our anticipated store hours will be Monday through Saturday 10 AM to 7 PM, although that may change so flexibility is preferred. All positions are part time but there is always the ability to grow with Sugar Lab Bake Shop. Anticipated hire date is week of March 28.
Retail Bakery Assistant
We are looking to hire two part time team members to work up to 25 hours per week.
Essential job duties include but are not limited to: Must be at least 18 years of age | Must have superior custom service skills | Must have excellent communication skills and communicate effectively with customers and co-workers | Must be detail and service oriented | Must be able to effectively open or close the shop | Must have current food handler's card or obtain within 30 days of hire | Must stock, fold boxes, and maintain retail supplies | Must keep retail space clean and tidy | Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours per day
6 months to 1 year retail sales experience required, food service setting preferred
We are looking to hire an additional baker to join our morning baking staff. This position would be part time, 4 hours per day up to 5 days per week. Essential job duties include are but not limited to: Able to establish priorities and work independently as well as part of a team | Able to lift 50 lbs | Able to stand for up to 8 hours per day | Able to work early mornings | Able to follow recipes to prepare a variety of menu items from scratch with little to no instruction | Able to troubleshoot/identify problems and offer resolutions | Must have current food handler's card or obtain within 30 days
Pastry school diploma or equivalent education preferred but not required. Minimum 2 years experience in a bakery setting required. Experience with cupcakes and cakes an asset
This position has a two part interview: oral and practical
This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment. Position is part time, with 3-4 days anticipated. Essential job duties include but are not limited to: Ability to lift 50 lbs | Washing pots, pans, mixing bowls, and other dishes | Basic understanding of various chemical solutions, uses, and proper storage | Organize and clean storage areas such as walk-in, refrigerators, and freezers | Understand and execute proper kitchen sanitation and safety procedures | Clean food prep areas and cooking surfaces | Restocking of supplies | Trash removal | Sweep and mop floors | Clean and maintain bathrooms | Ability to stand for long periods | Must have food handler's card or obtain within 30 days | Other tasks as assigned by Bakery Manager
6 months to 1 year experience in food service setting preferred but not required
